This post is only my third post of the year.
Despite that I was aiming to take more pictures than last year, I guess the reality is that time is not so much on my side anymore. Since the start of this quarter, I've had to spend 8 hours a day at school, 7 hours a week in class, and any other time I have left in between trying to prepare for classes or finish my homework. What's more is that I've started up videography, which, as much as I love it, takes up an incredible amount of time. What with the planning and teaching, class time and homework, recording and editing, I'd left my film cameras to collect dust on my shelves.
With the rare occasion of a free Saturday, I decided that I had to take the Fe2 (and my little cousin) out for a spin. It was my first visit to the Huntington Library gardens, and I will say that I was definitely very very pleased (and will without a doubt be going back)! The fresh air, warm sun, spring flowers and foliage weren't just a treat for me and my eyes, but for my lenses, as well!
After a full day of shooting, I realized how much I love and have been missing film photography. The thing is, in the context of my life, I'm only going to get busier. If I can't make time for film now, what will happen when I get a full time job? When I get married? When I have kids? What happens when your priorities and circumstances shift?
Well...even if the subjects of my photos might change (from flowers and strangers, to home-life and family) I hope that film will be something I'll continue to hold on to.
< No need to fear, film! I will forget you not!
